OHS-GEMA Distribute Homeland Security Funding To Hall County Central Communications 9-1-1 | |
(Gainesville, Ga.) – The Georgia Office of Homeland Security (OHS) and Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA), on behalf of Governor Sonny Perdue, recently reimbursed the Hall County Central Communications $157,425.00 for interoperable communications equipment.
“It is critical that emergency personnel have the proper tools and equipment available when they respond to an incident. This equipment enhances the Hall County’s communications capabilities, while also helping build capacity for homeland security response efforts throughout Georgia,” said OHS- GEMA Director Mike Sherberger.
The primary purpose of the federal homeland security funding is to strengthen the state’s overall capability to respond to acts of terrorism. The funding, administered by GEMA, is part of U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP) grant program.
