OHS-GEMA Distribute Homeland Security Funding To Hall County Emergency Management Agency | |
(Gainesville, Ga.) – The Georgia Office of Homeland Security (OHS) and Georgia Emergency Management (GEMA), on behalf of Governor Sonny Perdue, recently reimbursed the Hall County Emergency Management Agency $231,561 for radio and security equipment. The funding is part of a grant totaling $306,123.
“This equipment will not only help build our regional response capacity, it also serves as a vital resource Hall County’s first responders can use for incidents on a day-to-day basis,” said OHS-GEMA Director Mike Sherberger.
The primary purpose of the federal homeland security funding is to strengthen the state’s overall capability to respond to acts of terrorism. The funding, administered by GEMA, is part of U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP) grant program.
