OHS-GEMA Distributes Homeland Funding To Floyd Medical Center Emergency Medical Services | |
(Atlanta, Ga.) – The Georgia Office of Homeland Security (OHS) and Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA), on behalf of Governor Sonny Perdue, reimbursed Floyd Medical Center Emergency Medical Services (EMS) $68,293 for the purchase of a mass causality equipment trailer and response vehicle, a generator and other equipment to enhance medical service response team.
“It is critical that emergency personnel have the proper tools and equipment available when they respond to an incident. This equipment enhances Floyd Medical Center’s effort to provide immediate response and care for their citizens,” said OHS-GEMA Director Mike Sherberger.
The primary purpose of the federal homeland security funding is to strengthen the state’s overall capability to respond to acts of terrorism. The funding, administered by GEMA, is part of U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP) grant program.
