GEMA Distributes
Hazard Mitigation Assistance Funds to Taylor County  

ATLANTA ­­­‑ The Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA), on behalf of Governor Sonny Perdue, recently reimbursed Taylor County $3,952.57 for costs associated with the purchase and distribution of NOAA weather radios throughout the county. 

“We are working with our local communities to give them the latest communication tools that are labor and time savers allowing them to focus on being ready to respond to a severe weather event,” said Charley English, GEMA Director. 

These funds are part of FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance Program, which provides funds to state agencies and local governments for projects that reduce or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from the effects of natural hazards by breaking the repetitive cycle of destruction and reconstruction.
