ATLANTA - The Georgia Emergency Management Agency on behalf of Governor Sonny Perdue, recently reimbursed Floyd County $21,250 for costs associated with a county-wide mass alert system.  This system will provide weather warnings to all of its citizens.  The total approved cost for the grant is $28,862 with a federal share of $21,647, a state share of $2,886 and a local share of $4,329.

The purpose of Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grant Program is to provide funds to state agencies and local governments for projects that reduce or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from the effects of natural hazards by breaking the repetitive cycle of destruction and reconstruction.
