State, Local Agencies Simulate Contraflow Lane Reversals on I-16, I-95

Who
Area news media are invited to attend.

What
Georgia Department of Transportation, Georgia Department of Public Safety, Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA), and local law enforncement officers will simulate establishing contraflow lane reversal traffic patterns on I-16 from Chatham to Laurens counties and on I-95 from Camden to McIntosh counties.

When
11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Field activities)
Thursday, May 18, 2006

Where
All interstate entrance/exit ramps on I-16 between mile marker 51 (in Laurens County) and 157 (in Chatham County) and on I-95 between mile marker 26 (in Camden County) and mile marker 58 (in McIntosh County).

Why
To prepare for possible evacuations using contraflow lane reversals during the upcoming hurricane season (June 1 - November 30).
